Just created a network diagram for the computers still in use at my house (The other 2 laptops don't count, same with my old Dell Axim X30 624MHz PDA) :)

Comments :( Post your own as well if you have a home network :P

So CHC, that File Server is just attached to the router with a ethernet cable and thats it? Thats very neat.

Actually it "theoretically" is a gigabit device, so I attached everything to my Gigabit switch for a full 1Gbps connection. A single cable goes to my router (a 100 mbps device) from the switch (Leaving it 7 ports remaining) - and a single cable from router to modem for a linear and single design.

Like the following:

:P

But yeah it's a single cable, I left the file server in the basement on one of those Home Depot heavy duty racks along with my other stuff on the racks (Mainly boxes that I dont know whats inside :) )

Yep, both ways -- that's what NAS (network attached storage) is for :P Currently I only have a single 250GB, can't afford anymore lol, and waiting for a new firmware for the Tt NAS RAID for better performance. It basically appears as a network drive in your computer and functions like a hard drive, drag and drop, etc, whatever. Full 1Gbps connection between the NAS and my desktop computers :)

Well, chc has a nice network nonetheless. Although we all know mine pwns, and I used the latest in anti-aliasing and tri-linear filtering for my diagram, which so pwns his.

One question though, what's with the desktop names?

i can sum it up for ya

Gone = The device is faulty, and the HD's dont always show up in windows.

Creation = He created a monster machine that he loves, and is true to.

Believe = He wants to believe that this computer, will still shine, even though the "Creation" blows it away.

Faith = The faith in this computer is dying, old age, can't keep up to par with the new ones in the home.

Breakaway = Powerful as a PC, but breaking away from being held in one spot. Since, it is a laptop :P

had some extra time on my hands

You live in Canada.
The Canadian equivalent to the FBI ride horses and wear red suits.

I always thought the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) do similar duties as the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation).
I'm not sure though....so don't quote me on it.

Yeah wouldn't that be interesting, an RCMP raid with horses. It's only ceremonial.

Anyway, "All cables leads to the basement", and nice diagram.
