Now that I've had the P5e for about a month now, give or take a week, why not review it?

Well laid out board if you ask me. Not as many USB connectors on the left side. I have 3 connectors for my Stacker, only 2 on the board, but that was rather simple. Just take some electrical tape, and put it on the two USB ports you aren't using.

2 x PCI
3 x PCI X1
2 x PCI X16
3 x fan connectors
6 x SATA II 3.0gb/s
1 x IDE
1 x floppy
24-pin
8-pin cpu power
4 x DDR2 RAM slots

All solid caps, gotta love it.

Well, ASUS doesn't skimp on giving you alot...

6 x SATA cables
1 x Molex to 2 x SATA
1 x Floppy cable
1 x EIDE cable
1 x Supreme FX sound card
1 x USB and Firewire backplate
Set of Q-connectors
1 x Manual
1 x Driver Disk
1 x IO plate
1 x ASUS heatsink fan

I gotta tell you, I loved the Q-connectors. You no longer have to have small hands or tweezers to connect the front ports. Sadly, they are only available through ASUS.

The mainboard rear panel carries:

6 x USB 2.0 ports
1 x Firewire port
1 x Gigabit network port
1 x PS/2 keyboard port,
1 x coaxial sound output port
1 x optical sound output port

All six analog sound connectors are laid out on SupremeFX II card. There are so few connectors on the mainboard rear panel, because most of the space there is taken by the air exhaust for the chipset cooling system.

The OCing experience has been great. I never before did a ~90% OC, from a e2140 @ 1.6ghz to 3.0ghz.

I have been testing it this week, doing several 24/7 tests. It hasn't failed me yet. After leaving it on 24/7 for a week, I am surprised it still idles at ~28C...

Overview:

It's the best ASUS board, that uses DDR2, out today. Only the Maximus Formula towers over it as of now. In price and architecture.

I got mine around $220, when they had a $10 off savings. Anyone who has that money to spend, i would recommend this, or Maximus, which has a very similar layout.

9/10 - Since my Open Box M2N SLI deluxe broke 3 months after I bought it, I am reassured that ASUS is the best. Just never buy "open box". It gets a 9 only for the cost. If i wasn't so power hungry, i would have gotten something else...

Nice review

I'm looking for a new board to stick a Q9xxx CPU in. I'm very undecided about motherboards and I wanted to jump back to a DFI Lanparty but I personally don't like the tower cooler on the chipset =| Thanks this will def come in handy!

So it's a P5E3 - the 3 so DDR2, I'm good at math

I might switch* my P5K Premium for this down the road is X48 doesn't show a big difference (which so far it hasn't).

* switch meaning sell

You may be good at math, but you are poor at reading. It's a P5E, not a P5E3-Deluxe. :P
