RTM has been out for quite a while now, and MSDN subscribers have access to Windows 7 Professional  How does it serve up to everyone so far?

I haven't got it yet. I'm not sure if I will in the near future; it is kinda expensive. If I'm gonna get a new build or a major piece of hardware, I may buy it OEM.

Do you have it chc? How did/will you get it? MSDN? Retail? Certain "sources"? :D

We're running 7 Enterprise at work now. It seems to be doing well, I have not experienced any major issues with it on my pc there (its a quad core too ). The only thing I have noticed is that on occasion it seems to be doing so much (ok, maybe I'm pushing it a bit while running two VM's, a coding environment, and a Java intensive web application, but meh), that my music (playing in the background) will lockup or skip momentarily (it didn't do that with XP). So, not too bad, all things considered. Definitely far more acceptable than Vista.

Anyone got information on whether battery performance is better for laptops running 7?

Windows 7 has better power management than Vista, which has better power management than XP. It should be pretty beneficial to use Windows 7 on laptops.

My son's College has MSDNAA sub'd and I got a key for Windows 7 - I am really liking it so far. Rock solid stability and it's actually faster plus all Vista software is compatible!

Faster than Vista that's for sure!

ASUS for some reason didn't have Windows 7 64-bit audio drivers yet on their website so I just used the Vista x64 ones.

I've got a copy and a few keys through my TechNet account. Haven't put it on my main machines yet. I've run it in a VM testing some things, really waiting for Directory Opus to fully work with it before making the switch from Vista because I really despise Windows Explorer, plus I'm not looking forward to installing and configuring all my apps that I'll have to do on a fresh install.

I'm still not sure I like the Superbar though.

Superbar is an interesting new change in my opinion. It does take some time to get used to, but personally after you get used to it, you'll be wondering what's happened to us using the normal taskbar after all these years.

I have found something that works to better combine the Superbar and the old Quicklaunch function and still keep the taskbar looking clean. 7stacks. I have about 24 items currently in my quicklaunch area (using small icons with the taskbar on the left) they only take up about a 1" x 1.5" area. With the Superbar (not using the Quicklaunch hack), it looks very cluttered and ugly.

Using 7Stacks, I can group items together. For example: One icon for Audio, Video, System, Disk Tools, Net, etc. Then have my various apps in each "stack".

You might want to grab a icon pack/dock icon or two from deviantART in order to get sone nice looking icons to use with it.

Forgot to mention that you have to create the shorcut on the desktop then you can pin it to the superbar and delete the one on the desktop. Hopefully that will change in future releases.

It is. If I wasn't in Engineering, I would love to install 7 on my laptop for better battery life and improved usage experience from my experiences in the past. My T400 gets excellent battery life, but more is better. :P
