I want to wire the whole house, but it's easier to just do wireless. Yeah, I can be lazy when it's convenient.

That's true, but you don't get the stable and uber fast performance

Low voltage cables are legally allowed to be ran through ducts by the way.

Oh really? Through ducts for the air conditioning and heat? That's a surprise, always thought you had to rip apart your walls to cable it properly.

That's the PROPER way of doing it, but it's definitely much less work than tearing your house apart

True, although I would have to tear mine apart because we use radiant heat, from the baseboards and those old heaters. The heating type that doesn't use vents.

I drilled a hole in the floor and ran it up the wall for some network jacks - it looks almost "OEM".

I would love to wire my family's house, but knowing that in another 10 years or so, we'll be selling it, it almost seems like a waste lol.

I could do that, but where the ducts are aren't where I'd prefer to have my LAN jacks.

You can easily run it up your wall near the end to make standard LAN jacks.

Nah, if I'm going to make the effort to do it, I'm going to take the time to do it right. Sure I know some little tricks due to all the construction/remodeling work I've done that will make it easier. Also having the right tools like a 100' fish-tape will help too.

I just have to get motivated to do it, and right now wireless is working fine for my uses.

Buy the WRT610N, it's plenty fast if you're not doing BIG file transfers.

I'm looking at the WRT610N or the NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAS for X-mas. I don't do very large transfers too often, just a 700Mb/1.36Gb file here and there.

Doesn't bother me if it causes you nightmares or not, I'm the one that has to have it work and know that it was done properly and correctly.
