Windows 7 Winsxs folder

This folder is about 18gb big in size and its only giving my main drive less then a 1gb of usable storage space. I only have 10 programs installed on this machine. Anyone way i can trim it down without reinstalling the whole OS?

I kinda doubt you can clean that folder up. It stores multiple copies of system DLL files so that different applications can run in different modes (compatibility mode, etc). If you start taking things out of this folder, something is bound to break... :-|

Did you do an Upgrade? Clean install has none of these Problems.

I did a clean install - mine is only 6GB.

Only 6GB :P

But wait, Vista was ~8GB, and of course there's going to be updates and such in the future, hence the 15GB minimum requirement.

I remember theres a way to clean up some large folder after doing a sp upgrade...

That's C:\Windows\System32\compcln.exe, but that's a different thing. :P
