No, I meant the product information and the tabs in general. Just looks empty although I don't know how many functions there are, it looks very bland.

That's a lot better than what Ive seen in the screenshots - how goes the overclocking with your P55A? Any CPU-Z?

Post pics of your Thecus in action

Okay not EXACTLY 4GHz, but I can always get 21MHz more by increasing BCLK by 1 (191) with no stability penalties. Tested 8 hours small and large FFTS Prime95 and 20 passes of LinX so I would say this is stable in 99% of the situations my computer will be in.

Probably going to run something like 195/200 BCLK with a 20 multiplier for 3.9 or 4GHz for 24/7 though. But it is nice to see that with 21x multiplier this board can do 191 BCLK whereas the P7P55D couldn't.

Thecus in action as requested, thinking about grabbing a few 2TB WD Greens and running them in JBOD for some crazy storage.

Map them as a network drive

Does the new firmware improve performance by any chance?

Didn't notice any differences, and I did. Look under "Computer" on the left

Haha, I missed that.

You know you can rename the device right?

Yeah but I like naming the devices as what they are

I thought the chc got 4 gigs with his i5 750 - shift you should be able to go higher with your i7?

Max OC with this board is actually 4.4GHz with 1.36v. I have noticed through some fine tuning with voltages that this board likes two things 1) lower multiplier and 2) more PCH/PLL voltage gives it a bit more stability where with the P7P55D adding more of both gave it barely any additional stability. Obviously these are stable enough to run Prime95, but not suitable for 24/7 usage.

As well, at 4.4GHz I'm actually at the point where I'm overclocking my RAM as well so it requires even more fine tuning for 100% stability compared to chc's situation where he has DDR3-2200 compared to my DDR3-1600. And where he wasn't even able to overclock his RAM because of the ratio settings, I am able to set a 2:10 ratio and overclock it though it does generally result in more VTT voltage than I would like. vDIMM for me is not an issue as I got 1.5v rated memory to begin with, and the max Intel spec is 1.65.

I've settled for 195 x 20 with 1.3v Vcore for basically 24/7 usage and this is 100% stable (24 hours both Large, Small and Blend tests in Prime95 as well as 20 passes of LinX)

That and the fact that i5 750's actually overclock better than i7's due to the lack of HT.

Oh really? From my experience the P55A-UD6 didn't really like high bclk's. How does it compare against your P7P55D's overclocking potential?

Basically, potential was only a bit higher on this board, BUT the major difference was this board required slightly less voltage especially on the IMC/VTT whatever you want to call that voltage setting.

Well the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD6 has vastly superior voltage regulation with the 24 phase power design.

Woah, very cool build, man. Enjoy it! (I mean, it seems you are already enjoying it, but whatever :))

I'd love an i5/i7 build, but I can't really justify plunking down the cash for it. I know, relatively it's not that much maybe ~$1000? But still, my desktop does a decent job (despite being a budget PC 3 years ago ).

Thanks!

Depending on the parts that you are able to recycle such as DVD Writer, Video card, PSU, Hard Drive all you need to do is grab new motherboard + RAM + CPU and it'll be around $500 CAD before tax for P55.

For X58 an i7 920 D0 will be around $350 (get these quick, they are being replaced with 930's), RAM will be $180 and the motherboard around $250.

He lives in Australia - prices are higher there even after direct conversion. Aren't you part of the Publications team tho?
