I found it quite a welcomed surprise this morning. For one thing, one of the Core 2 5-series in my house does not support hardware virtualization, but that's the only computer that really NEEDED XP Mode for some of the legacy software. With this update it can finally run, and it does it flawlessly after I installed the patch. :P

Nice, see even chc reads news once in a while haha. I find it nice that the decided to support it as well, I thought it was the biggest shortcoming for getting people to switch to 7 if they wanted XP legacy support, but now they are set.

Yep. Having native backwards compatibility will inhibit the system from moving ahead, and with virtualization I think that is excellent since it no longer affects the core operation of the OS with no implementation drawbacks.

So does this mean I can run XP Mode on any Windows 7 computer now?

Some companies that are switching to Windows 7 may not have CPUs that support virtualization on the lower end. And yes you can now install XP Mode on any Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate/Enterprise even if the processor does not have virtualization.

Your computer already has VT support :P You don't need the patch to get it running. I've been using it (Just playing around haha) since I installed Windows 7 on my main computer and laptop.
