I'm trying to setup 2 routers with same modem. Is it possible to configure it so it doesn't conflict and work as 2 seperate networks?

Such a setup would be possible, if you were to put one router behind the other (e.g. Modem -> Router A -> Router :P and then setup the DMZ on Router A to point to Router B's address. However, this would not be an perfect or ideal solution for permanent use (there could be issues with NAT, etc). If you're trying to setup two independent networks, each with their own separate router (each router having its own unique IP address from your ISP), this would pretty much be impossible with a home/consumer ISP.

Completely independent networks, no.

You can have one behind the other with DHCP and all security features disabled. Stock firmwares may run you into a bit of trouble in limited configuration, but if you have aftermarket firmwares like DD-WRT would really make this an easy job. What routers do you own in particular?

That would come in handy. Check for DD-WRT availability or look at features on your router. I run 2 at home, but on the same network.

I have an old WRT54G and I just bought a WRT610N since Dave (TL6MT) suggested that one.

Good choices, you could flash both of these with DD-WRT, making your network more powerful and easier to manage.

Good choices, but you won't be able to get two completely separate networks. Flash it with DD-WRT and it does wonders for the most part. Why do you need two "separate" networks anyway?

Thanks for the tip, I'm not looking for completely independent networks, what I want are two wireless networks so I can have my own personal setup and a separate one to control Looks like DDWRT is the way to go, good thing I have right revisions to flash.

Both WRT610N revisions are supported by DD-WRT now. If you have the Linksys WRT54G v7.0 you are out of luck though.

No problem. Enjoy your new revised network setup, and feel free to ask anymore questions! :P
