Just to be clear the new version of CSS is buggy, the achievements lead people to grind. There are lag spike issues and even some physics issues. All is not so ready for mainstream playing, to be honest, they didn't test it well enough. Most mods are now fixed for the new update but there are still issues with some old configs messing up the newer servers.

Hmm, I need to setup my LAN server again. What should I look out for? I have ESTools and Mani as far as I know.

Time to redo everything, scrap ESTools. That was broken by the newest version of CSS.

Use the newest version of Eventscripts, which you can get here: http://forums.events...hp?f=90&t=38821

Use this script as a replacement for EST: http://addons.events...ns/view/est4css

I suggest dropping Mani for SourceMod which requires both SourceMM and of course SourceMod:

Do you recall how to uninstall the old stuff? I don't remember where they were installed, haha. I've been out of the server business for so long :P

Delete the Addons folder and make a new one to install all the new mods.

Yep, it's the same as my communication server.

Delete the Addons folder and make a new one to install all the new mods.

Oh, sweet. Thanks :P

No kidding, this is one big reason I play a lot more GMOD than CSS these days.

Updated GFX sort of, updated engine capacity from what I understand. More GUI, more drawing features, ability to add achievements, and a heck of a lot more. GMOD has been on OB for a while, but it is much more stable.

No doubt, so far the new engine has been nothing but problems for the whole community. Kind of sad actually, they really did need to test out the new engine better. Oh well, it's not like Valve hasn't messed up perfectly fine games before.

It will probably take a bit more time to refine it as long as they are actively developing and implementing the platform.

They should have considered taking a longer beta, similar to Blizzard's approach. Don't release it until it is perfect. Some of the stuff feels tacked on and the hit detection glitches were annoying to say the least.

How bad is it?

http://steamcommunit... update&x=0&y=0
Those are just a few protest groups about it. Steadily things are getting better, however some people had to reinstall CSS to get it working fully. It would have random lag whenever people joined a server and without a reinstall it would lag regardless of FPS and ping. There were also a few hit detection issues, where people just did not get hit when shot. Lots of other issues as well, including some bugs with Hammer the map editor. Every single mod that I know of was broken by the update and not every one of them is fixed yet.

Every time the company rolls out something new, everyone complains about it. In the end, everyone will get used to it as things improve and get over it. Too bad they never do it right the first time.

Reinstall? :P

Well since they released the engine isnt it pretty much a new install automatically anyway?

Nope, they keep the folders for the original configuration files and such. There were people that did not get them auto updated for some reason. Don't know the full details as it didn't happen to me, thank goodness!
