See "The Fundamental Guide to Police Radar and Laser" (Work in progress) (Y)

Looking good so far!

It's a pity these devices aren't legal in Australia, especially with the new mobile speed camera initiative being implemented. :)

Edit: That article I linked mentions "digital speed cameras". Those sort of camera would use radar, right? Noob question lol. :P

There's a few different types of speed cameras:

1. Radar/laser
2. Loops on the road
3. Average time between cameras

The first one should be fairly obvious with regards to photo radar. The second one has loops on the ground and calculates the speed of which you cross them (Like red light cameras). The third one has one camera in one spot, and a second one X distance down the road, takes timestamped photos and sees what you average speed is between the cameras.

It's too bad that these things are illegal in Australia, haha. And you have front license plates. Here in Alberta, they have to take pictures AFTER you've passed, because we don't have front plates. The rest, you'll need a GPS enabled radar detector, which works on a database of known camera locations.

I read the article and it looks like photoradar to me, since it's mobile.
