It's not, but it's only $60 USD. It should be a very simple embedded Linux based system, equipped with 2 USB host ports along with a media card reader -- so basically it is a no-frills HD capable media player. Should offer excellent value for what you get; and for most users it should be quite a viable solution especially if you don't have an advanced home network like me.

From the website, the interface looks fairly acceptable too.

I wish it was, but then again, I got a bunch of movies, and streaming it to my PS3 doesn't seem like such a good idea. I'll most likely be getting an additional external HDD to store all that and have it connected to the MPLAY-HD.

It should also work with SD cards, USB flash drives, etc. You get 2 USB 2.0 host ports, and digital outputs include HDMI, and both TOSLINK interfaces, which is pretty darn good for a $60 device.

Looks like this supports all the common codecs and formats, this will certainly make for an interesting review.

Well, at least you don't need to benchmark its network performance, haha.

Yes, I am pretty sure the network feature would also be quite slow at this price point.

Oh, I see - but $60 compared to $100 for everything else.

The ASUS O!Play was on sale @ NCIX for 69.99 after MIR last week. Should be interesting how this "no-frills" media player performs. Aesthetically it doesn't look all that bad though.

So... I have come to a road block in my reviews Posted Image Micca has apparently stalled me from doing any work on their media players. The MPLAY-HD has stalled at the update screen, while the MPLAY has a blacked out screeen on me Posted Image Talking about luck eh? Posted Image

Micca wanted me to review the products with the latest firmware.

Whenever I try to update the MPLAY-HD, freezes at the update screen. First time around, I thought that it would take a while to update, so I left it on for 4-5 hours straight, but it was still sitting at less than 5%. So then I wondered if I had done something wrong myself, so I consulted my manual for instructions, but that didn't help that much, if at all. Google-ing it doesn't help either.

MPLAY "was" working fine until it was about 50% into installation of the firmware. Then my screen went black. I thought it was my TV because it already had some slight issues, but later found out that something inside the MPLAY must have blown. I've checked the wires that connected it to my TV, but that wasn't the case.
