Just updated a bunch of backend software and optimized a few security settings. Of course, the most obvious update is probably our upgrade to the latest version of IPB, which I realized I haven't updated since 3.0.5 :| We're on the latest version of 3.1.2 right now.

Also look out for upgraded server hardware to improve reliability and performance of the website.

Upgrade is now complete. We should have no more downtime now... unlike a few years back, we also got tons of bandwidth it's not even funny. Any ideas what we should do with it? :P

Much smoother and hopefully we will see no downtime after that big upgrade.

Working pretty well so far. We should donate some extra bandwidth for a beneficial cause. :P

Prior to this the system would kill off services such as the firewall due to lack of memory, and eventually crash. It used to happen like once every few months, then became every few weeks, and eventually less than once per week :|

I can now load the mobile version of the forums on my phone (Nokia E63)! :D

I don't know if this was fixed with these new updates or at another time previously, but in the past I had no luck opening topics, as it would just load the full version. This happened at least until a few weeks back, which is around the last time I viewed a thread on my phone.

Then on Monday, I opened one of the recent topics from the sidebar on the front page (I think it may have been Kenneth's Android install tutorial?) and voila! mobile skin for the win! (hey, that rhymes :P)

Thanks for the good work, chc mang! :D

Edit: I've noticed that the threads are loading a lot faster for me as well, as BB mentioned. (Y) Props to y'all, team.

The new IPB has a mobile skin. I haven't gotten around to implement advertisements on it yet though. :P

Agreed, those ads are annoying on the go, especially when they take up like 1/4 of your screen.

No they don't. Only a small bottom section and disappears as soon as you begin scrolling. :P
