Looking for a new keyboard. Doesn't matter if it's wireless or wired for general purpose use. Any recommendations?

Are you looking for mechanical or not?

If you are looking for mechanical, my personal favorite is the Steelseries 6GV2 (or the Thermaltake Meka G1), this is after having used the Das Keyboard Professional as well as the Razer Blackwidow (essentially the same keyboard because of the MX Blue switches -- but they do feel slightly different)

I personally like keyboards with the Cherry MX Black switches for the more linear feedback.

The general consensus is that Cherry MX Black keys are better for gaming than typing (Most people don't like typing on MX Blacks compared to the Blues). If you're looking for a good mech keyboard with MX Black switches though, the Meka G1 is a very good choice. The new Meka G-Unit (Yes the name :P ) is a MX Black based keyboard with backlight and macro keys, but it's not available for another 6 weeks or so I heard. If you don't want mech, the Gigabyte Aivia K8100 Preston reviewed last year is an absolutely brilliant keyboard to type on. I love it.

Yeah, agreed on the diNovo Edge. It's basically a very sleek version of the Thinkpad keyboard for desktops :P

Hmm I think I really like the Meka G-Unit. It has everything I want, yes I want mechanical. Is typing on MX Black really that bad?

Typing on MX Black is... kinda loud. If you don't usually use a mechanical keyboard, you may need to get use to the tactile feel of the keys. Think of a mechanical keyboard as a modern day type-writer -- very tactile, great response, amazing keystroke durability etc. If you're use to sleek agile keys found on a ThinkPad however, then I personally would not recommend a mechanical keyboard. However, the G-Unit looks like an amazing keyboard; it features everything you would ever need on a keyboard

In the end, it's all up to you.

The MX Blacks are actually not clicky -- they're smooth and completely linear. That's why they feel really different from "normal" keyboards. Try typing on one to see if you like it :P

If you think MX Blacks are loud, then MX Blues are going to be even louder than that.

I didnt find them loud, granted I did not have a lot of Keyboarding time on one, but it's definitely not Loud.

Alright thanks everyone - I think I've had it settled on a Meka G1. Any one know when I can buy one?

A couple of weeks ago, I heard Tt HQ in USA won't get them in 6 weeks, so I don't think it will hit retailers any sooner.
