So I guess OCZ is going to be the first rolling out the updated firmware, hopefully other OEMs follow suit ASAP. Have a friend with a Sandforce based Corsair SSD that has some BSOD issues.

On a related topic, is it generally best to use Windows own (generic) drivers for the SATA controller, or AMD drivers on an AMD based notebook system. Just curious.

Edit: Info here, not sure on truthfulness:

Personally I always use the controller drivers... it has always worked for me.

That's a weird thing. I used to have issues with my OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS when it first came out on Firmware 2.06, but it has been nearly 100% rock solid since 2.11. With the OCZ Agility 3, I have had ZERO problems since Firmware 2.09 (And 2.11). I standby/resume my laptop like 10 times a day, etc, and never had a single crash before.

That Vertex isn't Sandforce, and always use your SSD in AHCI mode so use Intel drivers. RST 10.6 no problems with Vertex 3 and Agility 3.

From what Ive read Performance drops when using IDE mode so just use AHCI with Intel RST.

It is simply a different controller hooked to the same wire leading to the disk.

It's the same controller. Still a Sandforce!
