I'm totally stumped on this issue, Googled around without any solutions. It's a very weird problem where all the smooth "transitions" in Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Mail etc all of a sudden just changed to no transition effects. In other words theres like no more animations. I have all the visual effects enabled in Windows but no solution.

I'm stumped anyone have any ideas?

I think you're describing the same issue I had a while ago. Try reinstalling your graphics drivers. Uninstall the old ones, run CCleaner, and do a fresh install with new ones. It fixed my issues.

(The reason? Windows Live programs rely on hardware GPU acceleration. Your case sounds like hardware acceleration is not working correctly. Usually reinstalling drivers might just do the trick.)

Yeah sometimes you see that with web browsers as well. When you try to scroll down on a website, it's really jittery/rough.

Well, even non-GPU accelerated browsers back then require some sort of graphics driver installed to work properly. Nowadays they are actually GPU accelerated, makes it even more true :P
