Sometime back in October, we reported on ITG’s xpPhone 2, a device manufactured by a company that seems to believe that mobile chipsets and mobile platforms are not the way to go, as evidenced by their choice of hardware and software. Well if you’re willing to give them a chance, it seems that the company has managed to surpass their goal of a release in 2012 and has since launched the device in China.

For those who might have forgotten, the xpPhone 2 is an Intel Atom Z530 powered smartphone that is clocked at 1.6GHz. It features 2GB of RAM, 112GB of storage packed into an SSD, a 4.3” display with Microsoft’s Windows 7 running the show. The good news is that if Windows 7 isn’t your thing, ITG has indicated that they will be making the jump over to Microsoft’s more-tablet-friendly Windows 8 when it is released.

No word on how much the ITG xpPhone 2 will cost, but if you’d like to learn more about the device that ITG claims is the “smallest notebook PC in the world”, head on over to their website. Any takers?
