Sorry I don't have any self-taken pics, too lazy to go down to the basement :P

As some of you may know, I have one of these switches on my central home network:

I have a house with built in CAT5e cabling, and I wanted everything to be Gigabit, so it works wonders. I have the router since February 2007 (Wow, it's been 5 years already, crazy), purchased for a whopping $103.14 with tax and shipping back then. Nowadays an 8-port Gigabit switch is like 50 bucks, what can I say :P

This switch, as I've later found out, doesn't have the best reputation for reliability. I've been reading so many reports of people frying their switches within weeks, so I guess I've been pretty lucky. Recently, the switch stopped working. All the lights were blinking every couple of seconds, and after numerous reset attempts, nothing helped. A quick Google search indicates people with similar issues, where the capacitors blew inside, causing it to malfunction. So I took mine apart (Only two screws and no warranty seal), and the two Teapo caps inside were in perfect condition. The only other possible issue is the power supply, which is a 12V 1A PSU. Luckily, I have a 12V 2A PSU laying around (As long as it plugs in, can provide more than 1A, and outputs 12V, it will be fine) left over from an external HDD enclosure I trashed for a friend. Once it's in, the switched worked 100% again. 5 years life and still counting :D

Test it with a multimeter :P

Personally I just switched to check, it doesn't hurt. It's dead because it doesn't work as it should.
