Background: Recently I've RMAed my EOS 60D because the rubber grip near the shutter button is peeling off. I've read that this is a common issue with earlier 60D units, where the original rubber grip has poor glue on it; not to mention the grip is a bit too large for the body to handle. I could have easily super glued it back in place, but usually when you RMA it, they clean the sensor too -- not to mention they will replace the entire set of grips on the dSLR camera. In other words, it makes financial sense to send it back for repairs, and prevents future problems. Also the pop up flash has a poorly designed spring mechanism that, when an external flash is attached for a long time, the pop up flash will no longer work until you push the right piece of metal back up. I noted that in the repair request as well, because, why not
So I packed up my Canon EOS 60D and sent it back via Canada Post Expedited with $900 insurance on it (I never buy insurance, but this time around, I don't think it's worth the risk for a $900 body
To my surprise, everything was repaired and was shipped by January 26th already, and they've used Purolator Air which arrived in Calgary on January 27th. Unfortunately I wasn't at home at the time, so I picked it up on the way back from school at Purolator this afternoon.

Here's what they did to my camera:
- Replaced spring/shoe plate for flash
- Replaced 2 pieces of front rubber grip
- Replaced 1 piece of back rubber grip
- Cleaned sensor and updated firmware
The new rubber grip is less soft and cushy like the original one -- a good thing. It feels more like the EOS 20D I used to have, which gives the 60D a completely new feel in a positive sense. Also, they've done a great job at cleaning the sensor, which I've checked afterwards. For the $30 I've spent on shipping (It's really $13 plus the rest is insurance), it's worth the cash
