Give it a shot. I think the ones above 18 are a little quieter, so you might need to turn up the volume a bit. I can hear all of them using my Auzentech X-Fi HomeTheater HD over the headphone channel with my V-MODA Vibe II earphones.

12 kHz was the last one I could hear (even with my headphones). Couldn't differentiate the 14kHz one and the constant ringing I always hear. I guess all the years of loud rock/metal concerts, race cars and power tools have taken their toll. :P

I'm sitting at about 20 kHz myself. That's with about 45% volume through my T420 speakers. Of course, with headphones/earphones, I can hear all of them.

Me and both my dogs cannot hear higher than 14k so I suspect my computer setup more than my ears....
Asus P6T Deluxe, i7 920 @ 3.6 ghz with thermalright extreme 120 cooler, 3x2GB Corsair XMS3 10666
Dual EVGA GTX 275 - 896Mb @ 633 mhz, Antec p182 case, BFG 1200W psu, vista x64 ultimate, Asus xonar D2X
2x320GB + 2x500GB WD AAKS 7200 RPM, Tritton AX360 headphones, Logitech G25 steering, Track IR
and more..... but I'm still using my coppermine pentium III to write those lines.

Just use headphones. They usually perform a little better as well.
