Increasing tablet sales will also increase desktop PC sales

Here's an interesting quote:

Note that there will still be lots of personal computers sold and in use — in fact our casual estimate is that there will be 2 billion PCs in use by 2016, despite growing tablet sales. That’s because tablets only partially cannibalize PCs. Eventually tablets will slow laptop sales but increase sales of desktop PCs. That’s because many people, especially information workers, will still need conventional PCs for any intensely creative work at a desk that requires a large display or significant processing power.


Not sure if I really want a tablet at the moment, but every is walking around with an iPad. I still prefer my traditional laptop :P

Tablets are real convenient, I agree. Its never going to replace a real computer though.

Video editing, photoshop, real office documents, etc

Yeah, he pretty much hit the nail in the head. The desktop provides a much better -- and more complete -- user experience. This is one of the reasons why I don't like using even laptops when I can, but when given the choice, laptop > tablet :P

Well tablets are useful on the go, but I agree it wont replace real desktop computers.
