Right, my comp was running fine, running CS at high fps. Then I decided to open up LostCoast, just wanted to check out the HDR thing. So I started up the program, taking longer than usual. I maxed out everything, getting nearly 40 fps, a big improvement from 15 fps. Did the textures and models look so awesome. Then it suddenly froze, playing the sound over and over again. Ok maybe I put it up too high I thought. So I restarted the comp and ran everything with 'mid' specs, like med texturing, med modelling, low shadow, low shading and bloom. It froze again. Ok what the hey, I ran Half Life 2 with the same specs, and it froze! When I was watching the part with G-man and no problems occured. As soon as I got out of the train and I looked at 10 models and a skybox with scanners clicking and things shooting while carrying a box, it froze. The fps was in the high 80s, so I'm thinking that my cpu is under powered to run this game :/

Dont worry, all our computer crashes like that. I had to uninstall the game and over write the files and reinstall it to solve the problem. By the way, an X800XL is not an HDR card.

Is a 9800 Pro an HDR card?

Btw, EVERYTIME I run HL2, it freezes. I don't freeze in CS because server's doing the work for me. Time for a new cpu!?

No. I had to reinstall all the crap first, and it runs just fine. Look at shc-boomer, he has a 3000+ Venice. Herbicious has a 3400+ Clawhammer but only 512mb RAM. I have a 3000+ Newcastle and it works just fine after some reinstallation.

So how do I do it? Go to control panel, remove all Sierra stuff, swap in the disk and install the whole thing again? Is there a 'reinstallation' option?

No, you get a portable HD and boot it up in the air to see if the anti-shock is working.

A zen micro has a HD and you can partition it as an removable disk which you need to format.
