Microsoft's Standalone Kinect 2 Goes On Sale Oct. 7 for $150

From DailyTech: Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) recently launched an Xbox One SKU that ditched the console's embattled "killer app" -- the voice and movement Kinect 2 sensor. The new standalone SKU trimmed $100 off the price of the original Xbox One and Kinect sensor bundle, selling for $399.

The move worked to reignite Microsoft's slumping sales, although it's still being outsold by archrival Sony Corp. (TYO:6758). At the launch of the Kinect-free SKU, Microsoft said it would eventually release a standalone Kinect 2 for those who purchased the cheaper SKU, but later got a hankering for Kinect.

Well, that time is almost at hand. Microsoft posted on Xbox Wire:

When we announced the new Xbox One option, we also shared that we would deliver a standalone Kinect sensor for people that chose to purchase the sensor at a later date. We’ve always believed in the magic Kinect brings to Xbox One and today we’re excited to confirm that, beginning in October 7, fans will be able to purchase a standalone Kinect sensor for Xbox One.

The standalone Kinect sensor comes with Dance Central Spotlight, the latest in the dance series from developer Harmonix, which will be available as a digital download and features a soundtrack of 10 hot tracks. Kinect with Dance Central Spotlight will be available at retailers for $149.99.
