LG Prepares Yet Another Smartwatch, Readies Call-capable Model for Sprint/Verizon

From DailyTech: Although LG doesn’t have nearly as many smartwatches as its home market rival, Samsung, the company appears to be on the verge of releasing its third smartwatch. The company announced the G Watch in June, and launched the device the following month. The company announced the G Watch R late in August, but that model is not yet available (and no official launch date has been announced).

The third smartwatch mode from LG will come with a CDMA 3G (CDMA2000, voice/data) modem that should allow it to work on both Verizon Wireless and Sprint networks. This information was first discovered by G for Games when the device showed up on the FCC’s website.

Not much else is known about the device from the FCC listing other than its model name — LG VC100/VC100P and that the actual body of the smartwatch (minus the strap) measures 57.7mm x 35.5mm. That makes it just a tad bit smaller than the call-capable Samsung Gear S that measures 58.3mm x 39.8mm and will be available on America’s four largest wireless networks later this fall.

We would assume that the device would run Android Wear, as we are currently unaware of any other LG software projects that would be suitable for a smartwatch platform. If Android Wear does end up being the operating system of choice, we’d be very interested to see what the battery life of this latest LG offering will be like, as most smartwatches running the operating system can barely last more than 24 hours on a charge.
