HP Reveals Sprout PC with Built in Projector, 20" Touch Sensitive Mat for Input

From DailyTech: Hewlett-Packard may be struggling to find its way as a company, but that isn’t stopping the it from thinking outside of the box when it comes to PCs. HP has just introduced its new Sprout PC which is unlike any other all-in-one desktop PC that you’ve seen before.

The device integrates an overhead DLP projector above the 23” touch screen display that can “beam” content down to a 20”, 20-point touch sensitive mat. Joining the projector is Intel’s RealSense 3D camera, and a 14.6MP camera.

When all of the components are working together, you can draw on the matt with a stylus, use the matt as a touch-sensitive keyboard, or even scan 2D and 3D objects.

It should be noted that while the HP Sprout PC is definitely unorthodox, it is still a powerful all-in-one machine by itself. It features a fourth gen Intel Core i7-4790S processor, 8GB of RAM, 23” 1080p display, NVIDIA GeForce GT 745A GPU, and a 1TB SSD. For those that simply can’t get by with using the mat for touch-typing, a “premium” wireless chiclet-style keyboard and optical mouse are also included.
