Windows 10 Build 10049 Installation May Take Hours, Will Fail if You Have < 8 GB

From DailyTech: Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) rolled out Build 10049 late yesterday to its "Fast Ring" Insider Preview members (that includes me). I was eager to share with you guys the scoop on the new Project Spartan Browser. Sadly, after locking up my machine for roughly two hours, Windows 10 rebooted and reverted to Build 10041.

I'm not alone. On Microsoft's blog on Build 10049, a number of users complained of freezing installers or warnings that the update was unable to install.

The first sign of trouble (for me) was seeing how slowly the installer was creeping. It would literally go ten minutes or more without updating the large counter, although the small subpercentage for the step would tick upwards every couple minutes.
