From DailyTech: Wondering when Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Windows 10 will launch. Well you can probably stop wondering, thanks to Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) CEO Lisa Su, Ph.D.
For those who missed it, Dr. Su stepped on AMD's CEO carousel in Oct. 2014, replacing Rory Read. AMD's CEO longevity has been shrinking at an alarming rate. Its first CEO and cofounder lasted 23 years. The next lasted five years. The last two lasted two-and-a-half and three years, respectively, which brings us to Su -- AMD's fifth CEO in the last decade. Su at least comes with sterling technical credentials -- she holds a Ph.D in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
But she surely didn't do any favors for Microsoft, one of her top enterprise partners when she casually let slip during AMD's Q1 2015 earnings call that Windows 10 would launch at "the end of July."
Microsoft had previously stated last month that Windows 10 -- a free major upgrade for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 customers would be delivered sometime in the late "summer" months, which was widely interpreted to mean either July or August. However, it hadn't stated a specific release month yet.
