Microsoft Band 2 Stays Focused on Fitness, Debuts Oct. 30, Priced at $249

From DailyTech: When it comes to wearables sometimes less is more. While Apple, Inc. (AAPL) has seen a fair deal of sales success with the Jack-of-all-trades Apple Watch, that success has been more of an exception than the rule. In general the more a smartwatch tries to do, the poorer sales have been. And in general dedicated wearables have outsold wearables who have tried to be too smartphone-esque (just ask Samsung Electronics Comp., Ltd. (KRX:005930) (KRX:005935)).

The value of a more focused wearable is clearly a pillar of Fitbit, Inc.'s (FIT) market aplomb. And clearly it is a message that continues to resonate with Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) as well.

Alongside the new Windows 10 smartphones, the Redmond, Wash. based software, services, and gadgets company announced the impending availability of the Band 2, its second generation wearable.

The Band 2 will be available on Oct. 30 via the Microsoft Store online and physical retail outlet, as well as from select partners. Priced at $249 USD, the second-generation Band is a bit more expensive than its predecessor which debuted at a neat $199.
