Sprint launches pricier unlimited plan with HD video

From CNET: Sprint now has an unlimited plan for people who can't get enough video on their phones.

The nation's fourth-largest carrier unveiled "Unlimited Freedom Premium," which offers the same free-for-all as its "Unlimited Freedom" option, but also throws in high-definition video. The plan costs $80 a month, a $20 premium over its basic unlimited plan.

Sprint is following in the footsteps of T-Mobile, which last week launched T-Mobile One, an unlimited plan for $70 a month that throttles down the bandwidth of video for a lower-quality picture. It offers an HD add-on for $25 extra a month.

Sprint's plan includes HD video, HD music and streaming games at up to 8 megabits per second.

The company is offering a promotion to anyone signing up for an Unlimited Freedom plan to get the Premium upgrade for free. The promotion ends on October 31.
