Western Digital My Book Duo Offers 'Colossal' 20TB of Storage

From PC Mag: Need a way to store and back up tons of personal or small business files in one place? Western Digital has a new option.

The company on Tuesday introduced its highest capacity external desktop storage system yet, the My Book Duo. Available in capacities up to 20TB, My Book Duo "has the capability to back up colossal amounts of photos, videos, music and important documents in one place while also providing users with complete control of their content," Western Digital says.

It comes with RAID-optimized WD Red hard drives inside to offer "super-fast performance with up to 360MB/s sequential read speeds," Western Digital says. Featuring a USB-C port and two additional USB-A ports, it can serve as a "quasi-docking station" and accommodate accessories like drones, action cameras, card readers, keyboards, mice, and USB drives. To keep your files secure, it can be password protected and comes with 256-bit AES hardware encryption.

"Both at home and in the office, people are creating and amassing huge volumes of data, and need high capacity, high speed solutions to easily and confidently move and store that data in a single location," Western Digital's VP of Product Marketing for client solutions, Sven Rathjen, said in a statement. "We see it within new content creation segments such as the drone market and with enthusiasts, as well as professionals, producing and editing massive, high-quality photo and video files. There has never been more of a need for a simple-to-use, massive capacity desktop storage solution such as My Book Duo for these content creators to keep pace with their growing storage demands."
