AMD Unwraps Vision Pro Platform for Business Computers

From X-bit Labs: Advanced Micro Devices this week details its latest Vision Pro platform designed for commercial personal computers. The new will support advanced visual computing experience, including support of multi-monitor configurations, as well as improved security features. Although the platform is designed for both desktops and notebooks, the latter will be the first to take advantage of Vision Pro.

AMD Vision Pro systems should support Trusted Platform Module (TPM), AMD’s Enhanced Virus Protection (EVP), AMD client virtualization technology (AMD-V) as well as out of the box support for multi-monitor configurations. AMD Vision Pro mobile platforms will utilize various Turion II or Athlon II processors from AMD in addition to latest M880G and M880MC chipsets with integrated ATI Radeon HD 4100 or 4200 graphics cores. Advanced business AMD Vision Pro notebooks may also feature ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000-series discrete graphics cores.

“With support for the latest in open standards-based security features, as well as the performance headroom needed for standard productivity applications, Vision Pro technology has been designed to provide businesses with PC systems that generate, propagate and display world-class business materials,” said Nigel Dessau, chief marketing officer of AMD.

At present AMD claims that the main advantages of its Vision Pro platforms are support for multi-monitor configuration, rich graphics-related feature-set as well as different price points of components, which means that there may be almost infinite number of AMD Vision Pro configurations available.
