Microsoft Natal to Be Released in October

From X-bit Labs: A representative for Microsoft Corp. said that the world’s largest maker of software would release its Natal motion sensor for Xbox 360 game console in October, 2010. The launch that is scheduled to occur well ahead of the holiday season may indicate that the software giant is confident in the success of the device.

"So I do have great news to share with everybody. Project Natal will be launched in Saudi Arabia the same time it will be launched in the world. That is going to be somewhere in October. Microsoft will be in a position to confirm the date after E3, which is in June. But definitely, it is going to be October 2010,” Syed Bilal Tariq, a marketing manager at Microsoft's Saudi Arabia division reportedly told Saudi TV station KSA 2.

The U.S.-based representatives for Microsoft reportedly declined to specify the launch timeframe for the highly-anticipated device for Xbox 360 game console. Nevertheless, since the original comment comes from Microsoft itself, it is highly likely that Microsoft indeed plans to release the motion sensor in October, 2010.

Microsoft needs Natal motion sensor not only in order to more successfully compete against Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3, but also to attract casual gamers to the Xbox platform.

Microsoft has said a number of times that the Natal is more than just a motion sensor and will enable a brand new quality of multimedia and gaming experience. Pricing of the device is projected to be low enough and some analysts even expect Microsoft to bundle the motion sensor with the forthcoming Xbox 360 console.
