Apple May Reveal The Next-Gen iPhone on Monday

From X-bit Labs: On Monday, the 7th of June, Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) kicks off and it is highly likely that the chief executive of the company will be on stage to unveil the next-generation Apple iPhone gadget. The previous smartphones by the company were a success and, taking into account a huge fan base of Apple, the fourth-generation product will also be a bestseller. But the question is that the competition is heating up.

From what the rumours tell about the fourth-generation iPhone it can be concluded that the device will feature faster microprocessor (perhaps, the Apple A4 or one of its derivatives) with improved general purpose and graphics performance, higher flash capacity, two integrated cameras to enable support of video calls, new iPhone operating system 4.0 and other improvements. More importantly for glamour part of the iPhone user base, the so-called iPhone 4G will feature brand-new design.

But will the fourth flavor of iPhone be as successful as the previous devices? Phones powered by Google Android are very good these days, going forward Nokia – the world’s top maker of smartphones – will release new products powered by MeeGo operating environment and Microsoft Corp. will also roll out their Windows Phone 7 system with smartphone makers following with the actual devices.

"iPhone 4.0 will keep them ahead of the game. Is it as easy as last year to stay ahead? No. I think Android has made huge progress," said Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi, reports Reuters news-agency.

Other rumors concerning the produce announcements at the WWDC include a Web-based version of iTunes, and a new version of Apple TV.
