Func MS-2 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

As for the Func MS-2, I think I can safely say there is no target on its back. You may excuse the bad pun, but in all seriousness, the Func MS-2 should not be excused or dismissed as just another mouse. The build and comfort levels are top notch, as Func has yet to disappoint us in this department for any of their products. I cannot get enough of the soft-touch rubber, and I hope they continue to use it on all their future peripherals too. The button layout make them well within reach and the rest of my hand rests easy on this mouse. The colorful profile LED is also a nice touch. Performance is in line in regards to the accuracy and precision seen in the Func MS-3. All games and graphical applications are made easier, if not more enjoyable, with this mouse. Despite losing the extra finger rests, it does not seem like we have lost any control with in the MS-2. In fact, some users may prefer the smaller mouse, but this will vary from user to user. Unfortunately along with the MS-3's performance comes some of the same issues, primarily in the software. The few glitches in the program and the long loading time can definitely be improved upon. Adjusting the dpi in smaller increments would also be nice and should be an easy fix. The cord itself is also a tad stiff, and it would be to the users' peace of mind if it were more flexible. Finally, there are a few feature requests I would like for the Func MS-2. One is to implement adjustable weights for a bit more user customization. While the mouse is decent in its given weight, some users may prefer a lighter or a heavier mouse. Another is to have a side-scrolling wheel for more functionality. Both of these, however, are small and do not impede the current implementation as is. If you look at the price, you will find the Func MS-2 for around $50 USD, which was lower than the launch price of the MS-3. The real question you have to ask is whether or not you want a larger mouse for better comfort, or a smaller mouse for better mobility in both usage and travel. Either way, disregarding the software, the Func MS-2 is an overwhelmingly solid choice for all types of gamers, and should definitely be on your list.

The Func MS-2 is to the MS-3 like Coke Zero should be to Coke Classic; all the same satisfaction, without the extra girth.
