Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is traditionally a very popular benchmark for video cards for its efficient use of hardware, as well as excellent HDR implementation and facial textures. The Source engine scales fairly well with different cards; and at 1680x1050 with everything maxed out with AA and AF as manipulated variables, the Gigabyte 9800GT TurboForce is again a few frames behind the higher clocked Asus 8800GT TOP and Gigabyte 8800GT TurboForce out of the box, but still faster than a 9600GT factory overclocked unit. This is certainly well within expectations and the Gigabyte 9800GT is fast and consistent with everyone else.
