BAPCo's SYSMark 2007 is one of our favorite computer performance evaluation benchmarking suites, because it uses real life applications to obtain real life results. From Photoshop to Microsoft Office, it has all of them covered. It is actually quite interesting to watch, too -- as you witness programs open and close by themselves, the tests automatically run in the foreground. Admittedly, we do have BAPCo SYSMark 2012 already here at APH Networks, but before we implement the latest into our battery of benchmarks, we will give the tried-and-true 2007 version one last run. The above shows an excellent simulation of how CPUs of the same architecture in different configurations step up against each other. (Intel Core i3-2120: 2C/4T @ 3.3GHz; i5-2500K: 4C/4T @ 3.3GHz; i5-2405S: 4C/4T @ 2.5GHz.) It seems to us that BAPCo SYSMark 2007 tends to favor CPUs with a faster clock speed than more cores, as shown in our test results above.
