I'd just like to make it clear from the start that we are, by no means, expecting Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G2 32GB to deliver performance competitive with the OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD, even though it is a rather old SSD. Heck, we don't even expect the Locker+ to be anywhere near the batch USB 3.0 performance drives we used for reference -- this is a self-encrypting USB 2.0 device that is, by no means, designed for class leading performance. I mean, if you are expecting an armored vehicle to be faster than a Lamborghini, you are just buying the wrong car (Until you get shot, anyway). That said, we are not saying performance is not important, it is just more of a secondary priority. Our AIDA64 results provide interesting insight to the performance of the Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G2. Delivering up to 17.8MB/s sequential read, 17.5MB/s random read, and 18.2MB/s buffered read, it is certainly slower than even the OCZ Rally2 Turbo 4GB from the days of the dinosaurs, but being a self encrypting drive and all, I was actually surprised the Locker+ actually still provided reasonably good speed. Its 1.96 ms random access time is relatively high by USB 2.0 drive standards, but then again, considering it being a self encrypting drive, it is hard to make a case against the security oriented Locker+ in my personal opinion.
