About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is one of my favorite benchmarks for quite a while. Ever since we have started using it in my network attached storage reviews last year, it has been integral to our battery of storage performance evaluations here at APH Networks -- mainly due to its accuracy, and thorough testing in accordance to varying transfer sizes. As you can see on our graphs above, it is actually quite a bit faster than the 10MB/s read and 5MB/s write specification listed on the product packaging. It ended up peaking at 18.7B/s and 14.8MB/s, for read and write, respectively. In other words, Kingston's internal testing claims are quite underrated. Obviously, it is quite a bit slower than the old school USB 2.0 OCZ Rally2 Turbo 4GB almost across the curve, but these are different drives designed for different performance segments. Technically speaking, the DataTraveler Locker+ 32GB's self encrypting feature is a large operation overhead, which is expected to destroy read and write performance. The fact that it even pulled double digit numbers and held its own against the competition in this manner is pretty darn impressive in my books.
