AIDA64 Extreme Edition is a streamlined Windows diagnostic and benchmarking software for home users. AIDA64 Extreme Edition provides a wide range of features to assist in overclocking, hardware error diagnosis, stress testing, and sensor monitoring. I'd just like to make it clear from the start that we are, by no means, expecting Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G3 32GB to deliver performance competitive with the OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD, even though it is a rather old SSD. The Vertex 2 is a Serial ATA 3Gb/s storage device optimized for maximum I/O performance as a boot drive, whereas the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G3, while advertised as a fast USB 3.0 drive, is still oriented more for mainstream performance. However, our AIDA64 results do provide interesting insight to the performance of the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G3. Delivering up to 179MB/s sequential read, 233.7MB/s random read, and 171.6MB/s buffered read, it is certainly slower than the more enthusiast performance oriented HyperX and Magnum drives, but still fast by its own merits. The DT Ultimate G3 is actually pretty close to the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate G2. Its 0.71 ms random access time is also relatively high by USB 3.0 drive standards; this is one area where the company could pay a little more attention to. It should not affect performance all that much, if at all, in real life, however.
