About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

When it comes to ATTO Disk Benchmark, this is one test we love to throw at all our products. This easy-to-use and accurate test usually favor drives with on-the-fly compression like SandForce based SSDs, but history shows controllers from Marvell and Indilinx also kept up well. When it comes to the Patriot Ignite 480GB, the Ignite performed very admirably. Patriot quotes they were able to get maximum speeds of 560MB/s and 545MB/s for read and write, and the results show for themselves. This drive ignited up to a maximum recorded speed of 568.451MB/s read and 549.027MB/s write, both slightly higher than their manufacturer specified speeds. This easily took care of the other Phison based drives, but for the obvious reason, since the Phison controller inside is faster inside than the one found in the Blaze or the Silicon Power Slim S80. Thus I should only expect faster speeds from the Ignite. However, to put this in perspective, these numbers also are the fastest recorded numbers for any of our SATA SSDs. Under the curve, the Patriot Ignite 480GB was slightly slower than both of the Crucial MX drives, for both read and write. Compared to the SanDisk Ultra II, the Ultra II was also quite a bit faster at small file sizes. While the ATTO Disk Benchmark was not our only benchmark and is not necessarily indicative of day-to-day use, this did show a bit of weakness in the smaller file sizes, but the peak performance from Patriot's Ignite was pretty impressive.
