AIDA64's synthetic memory benchmark is the one next up to produce results for our review today. Although the fastest RAM usually scores the highest in these tests, this is not exactly what we are seeing here. Of course, the DDR3-2133 Kingston HyperX Beast, DDR3-2133 Patriot Intel Extreme Masters, DDR3-2133 Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile, and DDR3-2400 G.Skill TridentX took the lead over the DDR3-1866 Kingston HyperX Predator, but it is rather surprising how the trio of supra-2GHz kits actually traded spots consistently, despite the 266MHz frequency difference. G.Skill's TridentX, technically the fastest RAM in our tests today, only took the lead in the read result for bandwidth performance. The Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile actually won by a hair in the write test, while the Kingston HyperX Beast took the crown for first place in the copy test. Since the Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile uses the same memory chips as the Kingston HyperX Beast, it is not surprising their results are intrinsically similar. As far as memory latencies are concerned, the G.Skill TridentX was by far the lowest; while the Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile PC3-17000 landed last place. This is probably because four memory modules are tougher on the memory controller than having only two like the rest of the tested kits.
