Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD V.5 ST8000NM0055 8TB Review (Page 10 of 10)

Page 10 - Conclusion

If you are looking for a hard drive where the largest capacity in the world meets enterprise level reliability and unmatched mechanical storage performance, look no further than the Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD V.5 ST8000NM0055 8TB. Just think about it. 8TB. Eight thousand gigabytes! With six 1.33TB platters spinning at 7,200RPM under the hood, the ST8000NM0055 is serious business. If that alone does not boggle your mind, fortunately, the Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD V.5 has more impressive points on its resume. The hard drive's dual processor and 256MB of cache with enhanced write caching algorithms promises class leading performance in addition to its seriously huge storage capacity, and in our benchmarks, this was proven to be true. Although the drive we tested today did not beat the Western Digital Black WD6001FZWX 6TB in every single test (The Black is based off WD's enterprise grade drives, and is the largest capacity unit offered by the company right now), it won a majority of them, and I think that 2TB of extra capacity definitely has significance when looking at the bigger picture. For about $550 at press time, the ST8000NM0055 certainly is not cheap. But given the price per gigabyte -- or should I say, in 2016 terms, price per terabyte -- Seagate's flagship enterprise drive is reasonably priced. Whether you are an IT manager working at a local datacenter or a geeky enthusiast searching for some mind blowing storage disk, the Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD V.5 ST8000NM0055 8TB is everything you have been looking for and all you have ever wanted.
