About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. By varying the file transfer size, you can visually see how each product performs across the curve. It does not exactly cache ATTO data either, but I am seeing some inconsistencies between runs. As such, I took the most consistent run, and used it for our results today. In the Write section, the Seagate Laptop SSHD ST500LM000 500GB followed a pattern quite similar to the Seagate NAS HDD, although with a lower magnitude. Its ramp up speed was faster than any other tested hard drive -- other than the Seagate NAS HDD -- in the beginning; only trailing the Crucial MX200 500GB solid state drive. It quickly reached maximum performance at 2K and above, which is quite unusual for a storage device. Its peak rate came in at 112.788MB/s. Compared to the MX200's 516.222MB/s statistic, you can park a Boeing 747 in between, but it remained relatively competitive in the sea of desktop hard drives. In the Read section, it had an unusually low 0.5K result at 1.686MB/s, but again, it quickly reached its peak rate at 2K and above. With a top read speed of 111.615MB/s in uncached mode, this is pretty good for a 5,400RPM mobile hard drive with a single 500GB platter.
