As with all our portable disk reviews, I would just like to make it clear from the start that we are, by no means, expecting Silicon Power Armor A65 1TB to deliver performance competitive with the slew of flash based memory devices on the list. However, our AIDA64 results do provide interesting insight to the performance of the Silicon Power Armor A65 1TB as a USB 3.0 portable hard drive. Delivering up to 115.4MB/s sequential read, 92.0MB/s random read, and 189.1MB/s buffered read, it is actually pretty darn fast for it being an external 5400RPM 2.5" HDD. Compared to the Silicon Power Armor A30 1TB, Silicon Power Diamond D06 1TB, and ADATA DashDrive HV620 1TB, these results turned out to be extremely close. Its 16.65 ms random access time is what you would expect from a traditional mechanical disk as well. So far, for 1TB of USB 3.0 storage, they are exactly what I have been expecting.
