Turtle Beach Grip 500 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

When it comes to the Turtle Beach Grip 500, the mouse is similar to a golden retriever, to which I mean it is lovable in many aspects. For one, its physical build and design is excellent. The symmetrical shape means it can be held comfortably in both hands, without regarding the button placement. It is also able to be held by different hand sizes, and the soft touch rubber coating really completes the comfort picture. The design is unassuming, clean, and functional. Build quality too is great as expected from Turtle Beach -- the Grip 500 is very sturdy. In addition, the multiple lighting areas look really neat, in a good way, and show off a bit more personality. The available software utility is quite capable, even though it may look plain. Everything just worked, which is nice to see. As for mouse performance, the Turtle Beach Grip 500 executes this quite well. The mouse is able to perform in all sorts of game genres and in graphical work. Tracking accuracy and precision is present, as the Grip 500 is the full package in terms of performance and comfort. On the other hand, there are a few quips I have with the mouse. For one, it is missing braided cable, which has almost become standard with most gaming peripherals. This provides some added security, if even just peace of mind, since braided cables add an extra layer of protection. Secondly, while I really like the numerous areas of illumination, I would want to see the LED lights offer more customization in terms of colors for all areas. Finally, majority of the button placement seems reasonable, except for the most upper macro key on the left side, which is hard to reach. I would much rather for a third button closer to the thumb for easier access. Otherwise, these deficiencies are not a huge problem. Looking at the market, at press time, the Grip 500 is available for around $70 USD. This is more expensive than similar offerings such as the Func MS-2. On the other hand, I can say the software consistently works all the time. The Turtle Beach Grip 500 is a solid offering, with great build and performance all around.
