installing home over pro?

Recommended Posts

Recovery Dis? You talking about a recovery disc from his computers manufacture? Cuz if you are that will format ur hd stall windows xp then install all the software that came with his computer.

Now if you just want to install Windows XP Pro using the Windows XP CD? Then that'll install only Windows XP Pro but to upgrade from Home you need to either use the "Upgrade" install option or the "Clean" install option. Upgrade it'll upgrade home to pro. Clean it'll format Hd then install Windows XP Pro.

You can install anything over anything else... you'll just loose all the old stuff in the process. Recovery disks make things a little trickier, since they contain preinstall programs and other junks.

XP Pro has more features.... Remote Desktop Server, IIS (I think), and a lot of other stuff that home users wont use.

You can't do that. You have to format the drive to erase al lthe Pro system files then isntall Home so theres no confusion with Home being installed over Pro.
