A kid in grade 10 english, stabed somebody with a barbeque fork 7 times.

apparantly, dont no the full story, somebody had either stole his ciggaretes, or he stole it from the kid, but thats the basics of it

this kid is so cracked out, he was on cough syrup all of grade 9, and he is always cracked on coke or weed. apparently today he was sober so he was in an "angry" mood.

this is aphnetworks.comed

another kid at my school was being bullyed alot, (this happened last year) and he got fed up and chucked sciscors at the kid and it got stuck in his head.

what is goin on??

The world is screwed up. It is our mind set of BUY BUY BUY that leads to this.

That is why materialism should be taxed instead of income (sales tax).

haha, I guess that's how you Canadians pay for that free health care - paying taxes twice

Free? It is getting privatized. Sounds like we are trying to become like the US.

We should make it so, if we want health care, we can have it, if we don't, we should get taxed less.

Not exactly; there will be shorter waiting times for the wealthier or those willing to pay more. And then, hospitals will be free of the wealthy guys/people willing to pay more, so they will be (slightly) less full. Also, hospitals might not offer sanitary conditions, but who cares? They used to be the only place around that would offer health care; now, citizens can enjoy a healthy competition that will benefit everyone (unless taxes get increased to build nicer hospitals, then I'd be mad).

^^ Exactly. Private health care should be allowed as an alternative.

If you want to pay, you go for private. If you don't, then wait like everyone else. Don't force everyone into the same line.

It is allowed in BC but there are problems to it. This competition may lead to a very ineffective system that can send both down the drain.

^^ Exactly, I don't see how an alternative route will cause any damage to the pre-existing, flawed system

I don't think so. Because public health care is government backed, and private health care is used by individuals who prefer to use it. If by any means, it will be the private system failing therefore they must provide a better service than the public health care; through this it can only improve both systems. The public system can't fail, but if it does due to private health care, it's only for the following reasons:

1) At least 95% of the people must be able to afford it

2) 100% of the 95% of the people must prefer to use it even if they are paying.

This brings up the following question: Why would they rather pay to use something rather than go for something they pre-paid for?

There's only one reason: It's because it is so much better, that it is worth the money for a better service.

If your argument of "It can become so big that one side completely fails" is valid, then you just put your word against yourself, because one side (public) is so big, and government backed, that it bans private health care.

Monopolies ftl. Government monopolies ftl x2.

Besides, one side can't completely fail:

i. Public system is government-funded, so it's pretty much safe...forever (till our government falls or slashes it from the budget which will never happen).

ii. Private systems will never completely fail until we, the consumers, want it to (and do not support it anymore; that isn't a complete failure because we find out we don't like private systems, hypothetically speaking). And, even if one private company does fail, another one will most likely rise out of the ashes (depending on demand). Comprende?

With that logic we should abolish public transportation and let all kids buy their own cars . Oh and let's don't forget road taxes, let the private market take over and set up polls for every single highway. How about people with big houses? Is it fair that they pay more taxes even though they only have one kid that goes to school? Oh and income tax. Work harder, pay harder

It's not fair, but it makes everybody as equal. It's easy to say "let's make health care privatized" until one of your family member is stricken by lung disease or something. The gov't covers some of your $500k per lung. I'm sure it would let all of us benefit if we went private, but that's just being selfish.

What we need to do is to disband unions, or change laws so that Molson can hire immigrants for cheap, instead of the fricken unions controlling the labour monopoly.

Dude, read it again, we aren't saying that public health care should be abolished. It is that disallowing private healthcare is the main problem.

Unions are good buddy. lol

In BC it is allowed but there are various viewpoints. Another problem is keeping private clinics/hospitals under the same standards.

Same standards? You mean you want them to reduce their standard and wait time

Kinda like those safe injection clinics... there's a load of weird things about BC gov't :|

...unless you enjoy the wait times you get in wherever it is you live?

Anyhow, in Toronto it's become quite a problem. I'm sure the residents would enjoy an alternative choice.
