Microsoft's next OS will be called Windows 10

What's the point? This whole numbering thing is totally missing the point of having version numbers.

The ability to adapt to different devices is pretty awesome. You don't need to opt for the full screen Start menu if you don't want to :P

So after the first year of free upgrades, anyone else that has yet to upgrade will have to pay, while everyone that already has Windows 10 will keep on having it for free?

 

I wonder if they will end up adopting the OS X kind of iterative updating...

This is more than a one-time upgrade: once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device – at no cost.

 

I think performance_1's interpretation is correct as well.

That'll be interesting. Hopefully they won't shift to the office 365 model.
