Uniden R3 radar detector

Recommended Posts

Last November, I sold my trusty Escort Redline for $475. I bought it in September 2014 for a price I cannot disclose; all I can say is I took a very small loss  The reason why I sold it was because its K band filtering is simply not up to par. It falses to practically everything and at some point I'm simply better off moving to a newer model.

With that in mind, in the radar detector world, Uniden's new R-series has been hailed as the best radar detectors in the market today. It has advanced digital signal processing, range that exceeds the Escort Redline, and vastly superior filtering. As such, I placed an order for one and it came in quickly.

It's nice it comes with a large suction cup as well as a smaller mount. The large suction mount can be used for temporary installs, but if you guys remember, I have a BlendMount in my car. I took the smaller mount (the metal clip) and used it to replace my old Escort BlendMount clip. Surprisingly, it fitted right into the slot of where the suction cups are supposed to go.

So far I'm liking this detector. Having a speedcam/red light camera database is nice, especially when you're approaching a speed camera and you're speeding, it will go "Speed camera ahead. You are over speed"

K band filtering is also really good and the range is slightly better than my older analog Net Radar antenna from my experience.

Uniden is the top now? Wow I haven't heard about them for years - nice clean install as always :)

Yep, Uniden is at the top now. Escort's new stuff isn't bad, but you're not getting much value for your money.

They're a bit overpriced. I ordered it from Bestradardetectors (They're a sponsor at RDForum and Tom is very active in the community) and Canada Post didn't even charge taxes on import. Shipping was cheaper than taxes too :P

Looks like a great price - might consider a purchase soon.
