Dell to Continue Offering Windows 7 PCs after Windows 8 Launch

From X-bit Labs: Perhaps, Microsoft Windows 8 is a revolutionary operating system that will eventually outshine the legendary Windows 95. However, many enterprises are still in process from migrating to Windows 7 from Windows XP. Not surprising that PC makers plan to continue offerings Windows 7-based systems after Windows 8 hits the market.

Dell, one of the top PC makers in the world, plans to continue offering Windows 7 option to commercial and gaming customers even after Windows 8 becomes available. In particular, the company will provide the Windows 8 option to those, who buy Latitude, OptiPlex and Precision-series commercial PCs as well as high-end Alienware-branded machines aimed at gamers and performance enthusiasts.

“We are still moving our business customers from [Windows] XP to Windows 7. The OS migration for a large company is no small feat. We make it easier but it takes some planning and work. For Alienware customers, they know what they want and we give them that choice," said Alison Gardner, a director at Dell, reports IDG News Service.

It is interesting to note that after Windows Vista launch Microsoft and PC makers provided many of their unsatisfied customers an opportunity to downgrade to Windows XP after it turned out that there are many unhappy clients. It looks like the software giant and its partners do not expect all of their customers to be satisfied with Windows 8.
