From Forbes: The Disney password sharing crackdown is about to begin, just months after rival Netflix started to enforce new rules around the practice. The shock news arrived as part of Disney’s Q3 2023 earnings call this week, which saw the firm announce measures to boost revenue amid declining subscriptions.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said password sharing among the Disney Plus streaming service users is “significant,” adding that the company “has the technical capability” to monitor people doing so.
Netflix announced its password sharing crackdown last year and began enforcing it at the end of May. It looks like Disney will follow a similar path, with Iger saying it would announce its new password sharing terms by the end of this year and start cracking down in 2024.
